Oxford asks

 - What does it take to feed a city?

A groundbreaking report into the sustainability of Oxford's food systems was launched on 17 January 2013. 

 'FoodPrinting Oxford: How to Feed a City' was commissioned by Oxford City Council's Environmental Development department on behalf of Low Carbon Oxford and was written by Tom Curtis of LandShare. 

FoodPrinting Oxford calculates the resources and risks involved with Oxford's food supply, and explores how best to make the city's food system more reliable. The report can be downloaded below:

The report was launched as part of the Linacre Lecture series in a public lecture given by Gordon McGranahan of IIED. This was followed by a dinner made using local ingredients supplied by the Oxford based community owned food company, Cultivate.

Representatives attended the launch from Oxfam, Sustain, Growing Communities, WRAP, Best Foot Forward, IIED, Cultivate, LEAF, The Sustainable Restaurants Association, Food Climate Research Network, the Environmental Change Institute, Oxford University Centre for the Environment, and The Smith School.
