FREE COURSES IN OXFORDSHIRE  Dementia care: Essential Skills and Knowledge (DESK) for family care givers

Any member of a family or unpaid carer can attend whether they are the primary care giver or not.  More than one person may attend from any family.

The course is suitable for people with no previous skills or knowledge who find themselves with a need for basic information about the symptoms of the different dementias; who want to understand better and appreciate the lived experience of a person with dementia; who seek an insight into the behaviours they are seeing and who wish to improve their own communication with a person with dementia. We take a positive view to living well with dementia and we cover what help is available locally and nationally and how to access existing services.

Each course consists of 3 weekly sessions of 3 hours each. They occur normally in the mornings 10 – 1 (Some may be afternoon or evenings according to demand).  Each course admits up to 12 participants.

The training is FREE and participant expenses can be provided to cover replacement care costs and travel etc.

To enrol on a course or express an interest and for any questions:  Email your name and contact details to admin@newdementiacare.org.uk ; phone the same information to 01865 849768 or contact us by post: New Dementia Care, 56 Evans Lane, Kidlington, OX5 2HY
